(cue the overdrive and the interstellar vocal.) slovenian-based, us singer, hannah mancini, provides those cosmic vocals, ably recorded by sare havlicek in sunny ljubljan. after a sly re-titling of the track (to avoid confusion with the original the name has been extended to >on a highway to saturn<) its on to the obligatory over-the-top nang remix package...first up is a new version from d-pulse for those long summer nights. their >australian shore reversion< mix slows down the groove to a balmy evening by noosa shores pace. space-rock, guitar solos, smouldering synths and lazy rhythms all combine to make this one for the beach house. sare havlicek adds a couple of mixes of his own. keeping things hi-energy he goes for the disco jugular with his trademark stabby synths and tight production. nang newcomers, proper heat, strip things back and go for a slow-grooving baltic-disco chugger. rounding off the remix package is japanese based jan ken po (aka max essa). he delivers a dance floor friendly version with a big and bold walking bass riff and tasteful synths

emanating from japan, and discovered by eric d (of rub n tug fame). these re-edit masterclasses would never have gotten outside of their native market. luckily a helping hand from one of nycs most hyped party throwers has guaranteed a wider audience! all the combis so far have sold out in a matter of days and are now exchanging hands for silly money. this release has another glorious duo of obscure but super high quality dancefloor friendly edits. the price is a little more than we d usually like to charge, but if it wasnt for us, you d be buying these as japanese imports!

japanese based, dry-witted, multi-instrumentalist, max essa, docks his yacht to the good ship bearfunk once more. this time its the title track from his soon-come lp >white shoes blue dreams<. the original morphs things on from his pundit-pleasing beach and summer grooves onto an 80s tilt. the original mix is full of slick grooves and melodic musicality. maxs own >marbella< mix discos things up with a catchy keyboard riff that makes one think of a certain van mccoy, floor-filling stuff. fellow bearfunk sailor, roberto auser, is up for remix duties. his angular dutch grooves strip things back and make things refreshing and cool like he does with just about everything he touches. stay tuned for the second max essa album on bearfunk in the autumn.

italians do it better owner/traveling dj salesman/heavy record collector mike simonetti takes an edit to three very obscure 90s house tracks. we were able to recognize the a-side with some help. the track was altered significantly and intro extends and builds and builds and builds... the two tracks on the b-side sound like 90s japanese piano house and a happy house rave track flipped on 33 but to be honest, we have no idea what they are.

fresh & ltd repress !! mark murphy is a jazz singer legend. he started in the late 50is, ruled the 60is and his records are a hipsters must have since the 70is. then he came to fame again when one gilles peterson got him into dingwalls in the late 80is and japanese producers united future organisation made murphys version of stolen moments (he wrote the lyrics) really big. recently he releases his second album love is what stays on verve (germany), produced by famous german trumpeter till brönner. another famous german producer, yes its henrik schwarz, touched the original track with its deep vocals and full orchestrra arrangement and created the ultimative fusion of jazz and the recent deep house sound from berlin. extremly tasteful. you will never heard strings, wooden brass, and such deepnees of murphy featured in the recent clubcontext but will do thanks to henrik schwarz. different to many others this remix gets released right after being finished in henriks studio so you can say this is the sound of the moment
